LG has always been about introducing new features and designs in every iteration of their flagships. The LG G5 was a modular phone, the LG G4 introduced leather backs and had a Quad HD display, and in this respect, the LG G6 isn’t any different. The smartphone manufacturer in their new phone has tried to cram as much screen as it could onto a small phone. The G6 will be released sometime this year, but the phone has been put on display in some tech conferences and a few pre-production models have been released, and till now, the phone looks amazing! In this review, we give you the full specification of the phone and also try to predict what the release date might be.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The G6 has an 18:9 aspect ratio. This means that the display is taller on a smaller body. The 5.7-inch screen actually sits in a body that is a bit larger than its predecessor which had a 5.2-inch display. The corners of the screen are rounded which gives the phone a better look. The display has a resolution of 2880x1440 and gives true blacks and deep and vivid colours. The screen is an IPS LCD screen instead of AMOLED which LG normally uses.
The phone has a very thin bezel which is very appealing. It also has a glass back with a metal rim running on the sides. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back and capacitive touch buttons. The phone does stand out from the crowd because of its screen, however once that starts to become common by the end of this year, there is very little to make the phone attractive.
PERFORMANCE AND CONFIGURATION
The phone will run Android 7. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with a quad core that has been clocked at 2.35 GHz. It is better than LG has gone with the 821 processors instead of the 835 which has a lot of software problems. The 821 is fast, has a good efficiency, and is easy on the battery. The Adreno 530 graphic unit on board makes the gaming experience better than all other phones. Games and movies look amazing on the big screen that the phone has. The phone has 32GB of storage and has a 4 GB RAM. The memory can be increased to 256 GB using the sim slot 2.
BATTERY AND CAMERA
The G6 has two camera sensors sitting beside each other. It is an 18 MP shooter and has a wide field of view. Low light images are free from noise and with even a bit of good light, you can get some amazing shots. The front camera is a 5 MP shooter.
Certain versions of the phone will support wireless charging. The battery is a non-removable 3300 mAh battery that can give you about a day's worth of charge.
Following LG’s previous release schedules, it is most probable that the phone will be released in April of this year.
